Summer Racing at QCYC

Queensland Cruising Yacht Club’s summer racing season begins in September with the Bribie Cup Yacht Race and continues through a programme of bay racing, heritage events, night racing and major offshore events.

The Flag Officers’ Series is contested over three races in September and October, followed by the four-race Bramble Bay Series in November and December.

The Heritage Series begins with the Ken O’Brien Memorial in January, followed by the Pearl Channel Race in February and the Life Members Race in March.

Eligible races contribute towards the Club Championship, Multihull Pointscore and Gold Cup competitions. The Gold Cup also incorporates the QCYC Night Race Series and the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

Flag Officers’ Series

Three races across September and October, including the Rear Commodores, Vice Commodores and Commodores races.

Bramble Bay Series

Four races sailed through November and December, providing regular short-course summer competition.

Heritage Series

The Ken O’Brien Memorial, Pearl Channel Race and Life Members Race from January to March.

Night Race Series

Four night races conducted in conjunction with the Kingfisher Bay Resort Night Race Series.

Club Championship

Season-long competition incorporating eligible QCYC summer races for monohulls and multihulls.

Gold Cup

QCYC’s extended monohull competition incorporating Club Championship races, Night Series racing and the Brisbane to Gladstone.

Competing in the Summer Series

Summer Series races are open to eligible QCYC members and visiting competitors. Championship and Gold Cup points are awarded to eligible QCYC competitors in accordance with the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.

Entrants must complete the online entry process and provide the required safety audit and insurance documentation. Competitors should read the current Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions before entering.
