75 Years of the Bribie Cup

First contested in 1952, the Bribie Cup is one of Queensland Cruising Yacht Club’s longest-running sailing events. In 2026, the Club celebrated the 75th running of this much-loved Moreton Bay race.

The 2026 fleet competed across Division 1 Monohull, Division 1 Classic Monohull, Division 2 Monohull and the Multihull Division, including the introduction of a dedicated Classic division for eligible classic and vintage yachts.

The Race

The fleet started off Shorncliffe before heading north past Redcliffe Jetty and Scarborough Point, across Deception Bay, and finishing near Bongaree Jetty on Bribie Island.

The course provided another memorable day of Moreton Bay racing and spectacular scenery for the 75th running of this historic Queensland sailing event.

Trophies

Bribie Cup Trophy Presented to the monohull yacht with the highest calculated speed factor across all monohull divisions.

Councillors Cup Presented to the multihull yacht with the fastest corrected time across all multihull divisions.

Teams Trophy Awarded to the team of two yachts with the lowest aggregate score based on placings across any Monohull or Multihull division.

A Milestone Bribie Cup

The 2026 race marked the 75th running of the Bribie Cup, continuing a Queensland Cruising Yacht Club tradition stretching back to 1952.

2026 Presentation Day

Sunday 13 September 2026

Competitors, family and friends returned to Queensland Cruising Yacht Club following the race for the presentation of trophies and prizes.

The presentation weekend brought the 75th Bribie Cup celebrations to a close at the Club’s Shorncliffe marina.
